BGRIMM Business case:  Heading for a Smarter Mineral Processing

My name is Zhenyu Guo and I work at BGRIMM Technology Group as a Senior Automation Engineer. 

BGRIMM Technology Group offers end-to-end services for the mining and metallurgy industries. My department focuses on IT and Automation, where we use digital technologies to help make mining and metal processing smarter and more efficient.

 

What challenges do you face with the enRichMyData project and its toolbox, and why is this toolbox important?

When we apply digital tools to mining and metal production, we often deal with messy data that’s noisy and difficult to interpret because the processes are complex. To get useful insights, we need effective tools that can clean up and analyze this data.

 

How does using the enRichMyData toolbox help solve these challenges?

The enRichMyData toolbox helps us clean up (or “denoise”) the messy data from mining and metal production processes. It also enables us to analyze time-series data to observe the state of the production processes, allowing us to detect problems and identify working conditions more effectively.

Which tools from the toolbox do you use, and how do you use them?

We use a tool called CleanR to clean the data from the grinding process in mineral processing. Another tool, StreamR, helps us model and analyze this data, giving us insights into how the SAG Mill process is working.

What benefits does the enRichMyData toolbox bring to your business and the end-users?

For us, CleanR helps clean up the data from grinding processes, while StreamR helps us analyze and classify different working conditions. For our customers, this means we can create dynamic simulations of the relationships among various variables in the grinding process, as well as control strategies for the hydrocyclone pressure and feed concentration, based on the clean data, which ultimately helps improve their production efficiency.
